Position
Contract, part-time Community Economic Development (CED) Coordinator (20 hours/week).
This position has the potential to evolve into a permanent full-time position (35 hours/week).
Our office has a 4-day work week, Monday-Thursday.
Salary
$26,250/year
Working Hours
20 hours/week, Monday – Thursday (5 hours/day). Most work will be completed during regular business hours and once established in the role, partial remote work is an option (some presence in the office will be required). Attendance at business functions outside of regular office hours will be required on a regular basis.
About Community Futures Highwood
Community Futures Highwood (CFH) is a Not-For-Profit organization that supports rural entrepreneurs and assists with community economic development in our service region, encompassing Foothills and Vulcan Counties, Diamond Valley, High River, Nanton, Okotoks, and Vulcan.
As a CED Coordinator, you’ll be working alongside the team to actively fulfill Community Futures Highwood’s Community Economic Development mandate. You will be reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop collaborative partnerships with community groups and key regional stakeholders
- Take a proactive role in community activities as opportunities arise
- Be aware of projects and initiatives in our region
- Be aware of specific economic needs in our region
- Identify and implement appropriate strategies, action plans, and programs, contributing to local business and community economic development
- Develop, implement, and assume responsibility for special projects and funding opportunities
- Identify and implement revenue-generating projects (these will directly contribute to this position becoming full-time)
- Write grant proposals
- Undertake special projects as directed by the ED
- Participate in regional CED related meetings and events
- Assist ED in monitoring and evaluating CFH programs and projects
- Market and promote the services and programs of CFH via in-person meetings and other channels
- Maintain awareness of and seeks solutions to enhance CED
- Maintain open channels of communication with team, partners, alliances, existing and potential clients
- Establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment
- Adhere to organizational policies and standards
- Enter project/client information and statistics into the client management system
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual in-house and grant reporting requirements
- Attend and participate in staff and other required meetings
- Assist with operating plan projections
Qualifications
· Clean criminal record and vulnerable sector background check
· At least 3 years’ experience working with multiple stakeholders on a variety of projects
· At least 3 years of project management experience
· CED experience preferred
· Grant writing experience is an asset
· Proficient in MS Office programs

About Community Economic Development with Community Futures
1. CED focuses on the economic, social, cultural, environmental, and educational needs of a community, as all of these aspects must be addressed if the community is to develop and maintain its quality of life.
2. CED emphasizes that the people of a community should be directly involved in pursuing and managing their own economic development.
3. CED recognizes that different regions have different needs and opportunities, and all economic development initiatives must include local community-led planning and implementation. CED is driven by a community-based, bottom-up approach to economic development.
