Provide all instructions related to job search, job retention, resume writing, and mock interview, Reporting directly to the Program Manager. Develop training material and programs that result in career pathways for program participants.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage the service plan with the consumer, which may include job shadowing, informational interviewing, and professional networking.
- Performs job development, placement of project participants and create a post-employment plan for each student placed, which includes a referral to a mentor and career plan.
- Ensure that monthly status reports and matrices are correct and turned in to the Executive Director.
- With Executive Director, participate in yearly critical program reviews for the purpose of determining, program effectiveness, resource allocation, needed program adjustments, etc. Develop a curriculum related to education, employment, and diversity.
- Maintain and develop community partners; non-profit agencies, educational institutions, and employers.
- Assist in the coordination and organization and community events.
Job Coaching
- Observe and provide consumers immediate feedback, assistance, and follow-up and provide employers information and observations regarding the progress of the consumer.
- Task Analysis: Find out what the job duties are and put them into a format that the consumer best understands (e.g. a map of the area, list of duties, job description).
- Discuss the job duties and the environment with the consumer.
- Discuss how the consumer separates her/his role as a worker from his/her disability and/or personal life.
- Discuss safety procedures with the consumer.
- Identify natural supports in the workplace that the member can use for job support, transportation, and social connections.
- Communicate with the consumer about specific work/social skills needed for an employment position.
- Introduce consumers to the employer and co-workers.
- Train the consumer how to do the job, or observe as the supervisor trains the member.
- Observe the ways that the consumer interacts with co-workers and supervisors for later discussion with the consumer.
- Ensure that the consumer is working at the same and expected pace of co-workers.
- Observe the corporate culture of the environment to help the consumer to fit in with co-workers. Fit the kind and amount of instruction to the member’s learning style. Instruction may consist of verbal instruction, writing lists for the consumer, putting color-coded markers on a list corresponding to markers on objects in the work environment or just lending moral support.
- Help the consumer to develop his/her own system for organizing and remembering the job.
- Mediate any differences with co-workers or employer as well as give the consumer the tools to resolve her/his own difficulties
- Coordinate activities with other team treatment providers, family members, or anyone else who will support (or hinder) the consumer's ability to keep the job.
- Complete all required paperwork, monthly reports, case notes, ISP’s, etc. as well as communicate regularly with the San Andreas Regional Center Service Coordinator regarding progress or issues related to the service.
- Responsible for the maintenance of complete and accurate case files and case notes on all clients in accordance with Expandability’s Program procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure all monthly reports and matrices are correct and turned in on time.
- Help perform yearly critical program reviews.
Job Development
- Work with program staff and participants to create a plan to develop and follow up with a pool of employers who will support job placement services.
- Assist the Program Participant in applying for jobs
- Practice and attend interviews with the Program participant.
- Research employers to target job development.
- Contact potential employers using phone, site visits, and email to provide information about Expandability’s Programs job placement services to source job openings for our job seekers.
Represent Goodwill Silicon Valley
- Represent Mission Services and Goodwill in the community through participation in appropriate organizations and networking events.

Required Qualifications/Experience
- Experiences or knowledge regarding various types of disabilities and their potential impact on employment.
- Minimum one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities in an employment or educational setting.
- Basic knowledge of employment law and requirements related to employment.
- Possess vehicle, insurance, CDL and excellent driving record. computer literacy and knowledge of MS office required.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Experience in assessing skills and abilities of job seekers, teaching and coaching basic job preparation skills such as resume writing and interviewing.
- Experience working with employers to understand job task analysis, integrating persons with disabilities into a work environment, consulting with employers regarding employment, and integrating persons with disabilities into the work environment.
- BA/BS in rehabilitation, psychology, education, social work, or a related field.
- Bilingual ASL or Spanish is desirable
- Basic knowledge of employment law and requirements related to employment.

Working conditions
The job is performed indoors in a climatically controlled setting in cooperation with co-workers. There is regular contact with the public, business, and community agencies. The job includes some driving to meetings, conferences, community events, and outreach. The position requires minimal supervision.
Emotional Effort
Moderate: Occasional short deadlines. The work environment is occasionally hectic with occasional high activity, emphasizing teamwork.
Physical requirements
The job involves sedentary and light work. Light work requires lifting no more than 20 lbs and frequent lifting and or carrying items weighing 10 lbs.
Light work differs from sedentary work in that it requires substantially more walking and standing, and the lifting required is frequent, or that repetitive manipulation of clothing or other items while seated or standing is frequent.
