EDUCATION: GED or High School Diploma required. Associate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 1 year of working knowledge of mechanical tools, knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing systems, and mechanical systems is preferred.
CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver's license is required.
Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems, and other routine and requisitioned repairs as required.
Able to locate items on blue prints, shop drawings and sketches. Reads, interprets and completes work orders, repair requests, etc., pertaining to work activities in order to understand the various equipment / mechanical systems and to repair equipment as needed.
Performs preventive maintenance inspections and minor repairs on buildings and equipment such as: transportation lifts, washers, dryers, compressors, shop equipment, dishwashers, ovens, slicers, warmers, mixers, medical gas systems, and plant equipment, etc.
Diagnoses system malfunctions on mechanical and electrical equipment. Repairs or replaces defective parts as necessary.
In winter, remove snow from walks/parking lots and spread salt/sand to prevent ice build-up.
Maintains inventory of supplies and materials as needed.
Coordinates the efforts and schedules work assignments and projects that are associated with properties that are the responsibility of Mary Lanning Healthcare.
Works with department co-workers and other employees primarily, has above average contact outside of department or with customers or patients.
Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems, patient beds, stretchers, TV's & VCR's, non-medical equipment, and other routine and requisitioned repairs as required.
Assists in maintaining Life Safety systems.
Assists in signage process.
A thorough knowledge of how to use and maintain plant tools and equipment.
Observes temperature, pressure and amperage readings for equipment/system(s) and adjusts controls to obtain specified operation of equipment; records temperature, pressure and other readings on log sheet at specified intervals.
Can complete simple carpenter repairs, patching of walls and work associated with projects found in the hospital and it properties
Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Mary Lanning Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
