OMT-Veyhl USA Corporation is looking to hire a Powder Coat Engineer. Join a team in designing innovative, precision quality products for the manufacturing industry.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assures that company is powder coating products in the most efficient and productive way. Leads team of powder coat technicians and supervises painters to maintain powder coating standards. Supports manufacturing processes with proper documentation, such as work instructions, quality plans, standard operating procedures etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reduce downtime/increase operational availability.
- Increase powder transfer efficiency and line density.
- Manages powder coat technicians and powder coat painters to maintain powder coat lines and assure the upmost quality of products.
- Develops manufacturing processes and designs appropriate fixturing to assure 100% quality and productivity.
- Assures customer satisfaction through complete and on-time delivery by implementation of lean manufacturing techniques, quality and cost reduction programs, visual controls, and plant performance measures.
- Assures worker safety through appropriate tools, equipment and work environment, and by developing safe work processes. Assures MIOSHA compliance in all areas of responsibility.
- Works with Product Engineering to assure efficient and cost-effective manufacturability of all products designed. Confirms Product Engineer’s product prints and specifications for manufacturability.
- Works with Purchasing Department to evaluate supplier compliance and manufacturing capabilities.
- Recommends and implements capital investment and improvement projects within areas of responsibility.
- Assures compliance with all Company policies and State and Federal regulations.
- Manages Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process. Prepares Engineering Change Notices. May update product drawings.
- Prepares / creates documentation for internal and external customers (for example, work instructions, quality plans, etc.).
- Partners with Operations to accomplish their mutual goals and responsibilities. Problem-solves with manufacturing team.
- Occasionally helps out in production.
- Communicates with customers regarding engineering changes.
- Works with suppliers in reference to manufacturing improvements.
- Delivers and picks up prototypes from suppliers.
- Assures products meet BIFMA standards and pass BIFMA testing.
- May assist with building / modifying prototypes to print.
- May draw prints in CAD, both 2D and 3D.
- May shuttle parts within plant using hilo.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering required.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Two years manufacturing engineering experience.
- Previous experience with powder coating required.
- Hands-on equipment experience, such as drill press, saws, welding equipment required.
- Machine shop experience preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced CAD (2D and 3D) skills required.
- Intermediate typing skills required.
- Advanced MS Excel skills required.
- Intermediate MS Word skills required.
- Must be self-starter and motivated to bring projects to successful completion independently and on time.
- Must be a team player, willing to pitch in and help other team members when needed.
- Must be able to lead team, hold team accountable and accomplish company goals
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and listening.
- Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.
- Valid hilo license and Michigan driver’s license.
