Job Summary:
Position Title: Test Technician
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Works with: All Engineering Staff and Production Staff
FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Purpose: As part of the engineering department, this person will be involved with the research and development, testing, documentation, and building of prototypes of SP air compressors.
Responsibilities:
1. Complete the testing of various compressor prototypes to evaluate performance and technical specifications.
· Create test reports and maintain an organized file structure for the associated testing results.
· Conduct internal audits, taking temperature readings of oil, water, air, and other required data relative to the machine.
· Communicate findings and improvement recommendations to engineering and management.
2. Participate in building prototype machines and sub-assemblies based on information from the Project Engineer.
· Oversee and assist the acquisition of parts from available stock, or the fabrication parts when necessary.
· Use knowledge of compressors and mechanical aptitude to build or assist in building of prototype machines.
· Document any errors and follow up to ensure any detected errors are corrected by communication through proper department channels.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
1. Must have strong communication skills, high attention to detail, and be able to adapt to different situations daily.
2. Must have the ability to work individually or as a team and be self-motivated.
3. Strong understanding of electricity is required to work safely around 200V, 208V, 230V, 460V three phase electricity and 230V single phase systems.
4. Must be familiar with industrial environments and general safety practices.
5. Must have reasonable understanding of DC and AC circuits.
6. Proficient in the use of electrical meters, hand tools, and power tools.
· This includes but is not limited to; Multi meters, ammeters, power meters, IR temperature meters, drills, saws, pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, razor knifes, wire strippers, hammers, hole punches, and other tools necessary for the job.
7. Must have above average computers skills to use and setup DAQ (Data Acquisitions) programs as related to necessary test procedures. Must be proficient is MS suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc)
8. Use of overhead crane of forklift as necessary, prior training to be provided.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
1. Strength to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
· Good physical dexterity.
2. Correctable visual acuity and accurate color vision are required.
3. Ability to remained focused and task oriented in a manufacturing-based setting. This includes the ability to work efficiently in an environment with moderate-high noise levels.
4. Able to work in an environment with voltages and pressures that could be harmful.
5. Reliable performance and physical attendance are required.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
