Job Summary: Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? Do you thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment? We're seeking a Local Community Program Coordinator to join our dedicated team in Austin, TX. In addition to being highly organized, the Program Coordinator should also be friendly, creative, dynamic, and eager to work in a collaborative team setting. The ideal candidate for this role is mission-driven and has strong people skills with a readiness to interact with older adults and serve as a community liaison. This role requires weekly in-person availability Monday through Friday between 9am-4pm with the ability to drive to local classes throughout the work week. Opportunities are available for some remote work.
Primary responsibilities:
- Manage local programming, instructor communication and attendance tracking ensuring smooth operation and high-quality delivery of fitness classes and social events.
- Oversee our volunteer program, including recruitment, training, and appreciation events, fostering a strong sense of community engagement.
- Plan and execute engaging social events, workshops, and major annual PFP events, bringing our community together in meaningful ways.
- Attend local Power for Parkinson’s classes.
- Represent PFP at health fairs and community events, spreading awareness and building connections within the community.
- Assist with community outreach efforts and participant communications, ensuring our programs reach those who need them most.
- Contribute to expanding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts within the local area, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
- Provide general support for directors, staff, volunteers, and board of directors.
Qualifications & skills:
- Bachelor's degree or higher is strongly preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, demonstrating a passion for serving others.
- Highly organized, responsible self-starter and team player.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with comfort in public speaking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, G Suite, and design software such as Canva and Adobe Studio.
- Experience with data tracking and analytic reporting.
- Spanish or second language is helpful.
- Ability to work with diverse staff, volunteers, and participants. Experience with older adults is helpful.
