What will be your role?
We are presently recruiting for a Senior Application Engineer who will be part of the Distech Controls Enterprise Solutions team (DCES). You will be responsible for developing and delivering control system solutions for our strategic customers. As the senior member of the project team, you will be leading the design and software engineering activities to support the successful implementation of large and/or multi-site building automation projects.
Reporting to the Project Team Manager, the Senior Application Engineer will work with Project Managers and Application Engineers to deliver a high level of consistency in engineering and project delivery of our Strategic Account Customer projects.
What will you do?
· Translate Building Automation and Control System requirements and specifications into solutions to successfully meet customer needs as well as create competitive advantage through innovative design and implementation.
· Work closely with project managers and other application engineers to align engineering activities with respect to project schedule and budget, customer as well as 3rd party vendors interfacing activities.
· Produce engineering outputs such as submittal packages, drawings, system architecture, sub-systems interfacing points, database generation, graphics development, system software configuration and programming, etc.
· Provide oversight and assistance to Application Engineers, Field Engineers, and Startup Technicians in helping troubleshoot installation issues during the startup and commissioning of building controls and systems.
· Develop and refine engineering processes, standards, and associated documentation to increase efficiency and productivity at scale while maintaining or improving quality.
· Provide cross-functional support to other parts of the DCES business, such as Sales, Service, and other Project Teams.
· Engage with customers to enhance their experience with the Distech Controls Enterprise Solutions team.
Which candidate profile are we looking for?
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or more than 8 years of directly related experience as an Applications Engineer or Senior Automation Technician.
· At least 10 years’ experience in the Building Automation System industry.
· Expertise in the use of Building Automation System tools (Graphics and Programming tools) especially Niagara Framework, Lonworks and BACnet
· Ability to work effectively from a home office/remotely
· Self-starting individual, able to think outside the box, ability to prioritize and work effectively without daily guidance/supervision
· Knowledge of building, electrical and mechanical codes, standards, and regulations.
· Computer Literate includes Microsoft Office Suite, MS Projects and other scheduling and planning tools.
· Current passport and ability to travel up to 45%.
Required experience and expertise including but not limited to:
· Demonstrated experience in integrating multiple software packages, such as Excel, AutoCAD, and Visio, to increase productivity.
· The ability to design and construct Building Management System drawing packages.
· A vast understanding of computer networking and configuring of systems to communicate on customers computer networks and be able to troubleshoot any networking issues that arise.
· The ability to configure and debug computer and software related problems.
· Niagara AX and N4 Tridium Certification.
· Niagara 4 experience and interfacing Niagara Servers connected to multiple JACE installation topologies.
· A thorough understanding of HVAC applications, building services operations, and general automated controls theory within and how they interact with overall building performance.
· A clear ability to work with electronic equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
· The ability to troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
· Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
· The ability to build lasting relationships with customers through verbal and written communication.
· An ability to understand empathetically the issues and perceptions others have and to creatively and successfully work through these issues to achieve a successful outcome in both an individual and team environment.
Preferred experience and expertise including but not limited to:
· Distech Controls GFX application programming and debugging.
· Distech Controllers and related hardware devices.
· Experience in working with Distech Eclypse Designer - web-based graphic design and visualization interface used to deliver interactive graphical user interfaces and an optimal user experience for building owners and facility managers to better manage facility data.
· Strong IT background or vast knowledge of IT Infrastrure, equipment and architecture.
· Experience in development or startup and commissioning of nLight Air and Wired networked lighting controls platform.
