Highlands Family Medicine is an Independent and entrepreneurial-minded group practice of one physician and three advanced practice providers seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to join this established primary care clinic. Our practice keeps the patient at the heart of all we do, creating a medial home where care and people come first.
Position Summary: A Lead Medical Assistant’s role is supervised by the Practice Administrator and works as a inspiring leader that maintains efficient patient-flow and quality of care. It involves patient care, administrative tasks, clinic operations, and staff management.
Position Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of clinical tasks within scope of practice as directed by an authorized health care provider
- Assist providers with major procedures (colposcopies, contraceptive devices, biopsies, etc.)
- Provides optimal patient care experiences
- Assists in examination and treatment of patients (vital signs, charting of patient complaints, medication reconciliation, EKG’s, etc.)
- Provides direct patient care and preforms minor medical procedures (wound care, injections, patient education, administering medications, ear lavages, removing sutures, etc.)
- Manages labs, tests, and results as appropriate
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments/equipment and maintains stock of supplies
- Maintains exam rooms to daily par levels
- Triages phone calls and messages.
- Assist with front office duties and scheduling of tests and/or patient appointments when necessary
- Responsible for accurate and grammatically correct chart documentation and medical record maintenance
- Assures appropriate charges for performed services
- Follows written and oral directions from management
- Enters and retrieves data via computer software
- Participates in quality initiatives to improve care and productivity
- Attends/conducts in-service presentations and seminars to facilitate personal and professional growth
- Implements and develops services that improve the organization, and would bring more revenue and profitability
- Orders clinical supplies (needles, vaccines, etc.) and manages its inventory on a consistent basis
- Assists with regulating healthcare industry compliance.
- Has a professional, positive, and enthusiastic attitude, and leads by example
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities):
- Ability to work in high stress environment, respond to emergencies and maintain emotional control, and calmly react to urgent situations
- Ability to work cohesively within an interdisciplinary team, and supports a team environment
- Possess interpersonal abilities sufficient to interact with individuals, families and groups from a variety of social, emotional, cultural and intellectual backgrounds
- Ability to establish good rapport with patients and coworkers
- High school diploma/GED; diploma from an accredited medical assistant program and externship completed
- One year professional patient care experience in a clinical setting - required
- Ability to understand and apply information, policies, procedures and skills required by the position
- Experience and knowledge working with EMR software (preferrebly eClinicalWorks) and Mirosoft Windows applications
- Experience triaging phone calls and coordination requests for medication refills
- Experience taking vital signs, drawing blood, giving injections, obtaining urine specimens, performing EKGs, basic lab testing, and performing other procedures within scope of license.
- Possess attention to detail for accurate documentation, charting and charges of all care provided
- Experience and ability to move disabled patients
- Adept with qualitative, quantitative, or technical tools needed to perform the job
- Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in providing safe, quality patient care
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures, as well as medical equipment and instruments used in administering patient care
- Ability to perform the job with accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness.
- Anticipates needs of patients and ensures these needs are taken into consideration when completing assignments.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks within a specific time frame.
- Seeks additional tasks when assigned tasks are completed.
- Ability to perform all clinic associated clerical duties as assigned.
Salary & Benefits
The hiring rate for this position begins at $22.00 to $26.000 per hour.
