Job Description:
In the role of a Driver for the Laundry department, the primary function involves picking up and delivering items using a designated vehicle while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining compliance with company and departmental policies. The use of a company vehicle is designated for this position, requiring a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Company policy mandates that individuals must be 21 years or older, complete a yearly Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) review, and be Department of Transportation (DOT) certified to drive a company vehicle. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with proficiency in various office peripherals.
The responsibilities encompass practicing established safety procedures, delivering and picking up laundry and linens, and maintaining knowledge of guest services and local attractions to assist guests effectively. Additionally, the role involves completing Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) forms when applicable, ensuring cleanliness in work areas, upholding departmental standards, reporting equipment problems promptly, and attending scheduled employee meetings. The individual is expected to bring suggestions for improvement and execute other delegated duties in a timely manner, showcasing a positive attitude and efficient cooperation with coworkers. The flexibility to work during various shifts, including days, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, is a key requirement for this position.
Other Requirements:
- Practice established safety procedures in all facets of job activity
- Deliver laundry and linens from Laundry to the appropriate areas as directed
- Pick up soiled linens and deliver to the Laundry
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one’s ability
- If applicable, complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues (solved or unsolved issues) and follow-up on issues as needed (if computer access is not available give information to admin support)
- Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas
- Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
- Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
- Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
- Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership
- Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods
- If applicable, must have the ability to work for extended time periods in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain, and higher than normal noise levels
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
- Ability to lift, carry, pull and push up to 70 lbs intermittently throughout a shift
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
- May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and fume hazards
