Primary Purpose: The role of a direct care professional is to assist in fostering growth and bringing about relationships between individuals, other staff members, and the greater community. Direct Support Professionals are responsible for participating in the day-to-day routines of the home and the individuals, in accordance with DDS and L’Arche Boston North policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a happy and healthy home environment for four individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, fostering their gifts and interests, both within and outside of L’Arche community
- Collaborate with other caretakers as a member of a team
- Participate and support individuals in daily household activities such as cleaning, cooking and laundry
- Driving individuals to and from daily life activities including work, physician’s appointments, community outings, trips, etc. Using a 7-passenger van
- Actively engage in L’Arche gatherings, events, and training’s
Training Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License - Required
- Ability to pass CORI, national fingerprint background check and DPPC Abuser Registry
- L'Arche provides training for all certifications needed below if currently not certified
- CPR and First Aid Certification (L'Arche provides training)
- Must be able to complete Fire Safety Training within 60 days of employment and annual Human Rights/ DPPC training
- VALID MAP license (Massachusetts Medication Administration Program) OR ability to obtain license within 3 months of hire.
