An amazing new opportunity has come up in our Recreation Program! We are looking for a Program Director to join us in Danvers!
Job Summary: Oversees the development, and coordination of recreation programs, opportunities, and Special Olympics. Provides outreach to families and referral sources. Ensures a workforce competent to meet the needs of those seeking supports. Represents Northeast Arc and promotes its mission at local, statewide, and national events, forums, conferences to identify and increase opportunities for families, staff recruitment and community collaboration.
Major Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with existing community resources such as: YMCA’s, athletic clubs, school systems, churches/temples, city recreation departments and colleges, etc. to develop inclusive opportunities for individuals served within the Recreation Department throughout the year.
- Provides oversight to recreation program including Special Olympics, community activities, and monitors associated budgets.
- Develops and implements specialized summer and vacation programs in collaboration with Autism Support Center and Family Resource Center according to needs expressed by families and individuals.
- Oversees and organizes skill development programs in conjunction with ongoing Special Olympic programs at the area, sectional and state levels. Plans and chaperones Special Olympic events as needed.
- Oversees and connects interested parties with appropriate 1:1 staffing and/or other resources.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive service menu that interfaces seamlessly with all program service areas and collaborates with work supports and day programs.
- Works with Support Center Directors and Adult Autism Specialists (as needed) to solicit information about interests and needs of families and individuals served, to guide the design, delivery, and modification of program offerings.
- Collaborates with talent acquisition team and clinical training manager to hire and train staff on an on-going and as-needed basis for Recreation Programs.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in relevant discipline preferred.
- Significant working knowledge of and background in developmental disabilities, recreation therapy, and human services system. Experience working with Transition age and Young Adults preferred.
- Demonstrated professional written and oral communication skills.
- Supervisory and leadership skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and databases.
- Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation.
