Position Summary:
Peyton School District Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance, repairs and replacement of district facilities and equipment including; plumbing, electrical, carpentry, roofing, HVAC, grounds and other building systems.
Position Requirements:
Education/certification: High school diploma (minimum requirement). Additional education (formal / vocational) preferred. Must pass background check and meet requirements for district small vehicle license. Experience with technology applications preferred.
Experience: Two years of building / facility maintenance experience preferred. Additional experience in building trades also preferred.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspects the buildings, grounds, and equipment. Maintenance department is responsible for all facilities, grounds and fields. This includes school buildings, transportation & maintenance buildings, rental house, waste water treatment plant, outbuildings, wells and septic systems.
- Checks with building and department administration for conditions or issues.
- Handles necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Installs equipment and appliances.
- Follows local and state building codes and regulations.
- Complies with all district safety regulations.
- Reports any issues discovered or reported to facilities director.
- Completes work order information for new and completed work.
- Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely but priority ranked fashion.
- Loads and unloads equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed.
- Follows written and verbal instructions from the facilities director.
- Collaborates with the maintenance team and contractors as needed.
- Reads and follows manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions.
- Assists with grounds and field maintenance including, sprinkler repairs, mowing and snow / ice removal.
- Uses equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, plumbing tools, mowers, skid steer, tractor, back hoe, rotary broom, snow blowers and snow plows as examples.
- Various other duties as assigned.
Current scheduled hours are Monday through Thursday 6:30am to 3:30pm and 6:30am to 10:30 am on Friday. Snow / ice removal sometimes requires earlier start times and weekend work.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district wide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Must be in good physical condition and health, have sufficient physical strength and freedom from disabling conditions to permit the lifting of loads up to 80 lbs. and moving of heavy objects, working on ladders, in lifts and in confined spaces. Ability to work outside in all types of conditions. Adapts to changes in responsibilities and work schedule with a positive attitude.
