Oil and Gas E & P Controller

Mid-sized privately held Oil and Gas E&P and is actively looking for a Controller in our Houston, TX office. Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, able to multi-task, and capable of growing with the company. This individual contributor position is full-time and onsite (hybrid is currently not optional).
The essential job duties include, but are not to be limited to the following:
· Oversee the operations of the Accounting Department, including oversight of the organizational structure for achieving the department's goals and timelines
· Supervise all aspects of JIB / Revenue processing
· Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
· Oversee all accounting operations of subsidiary LLC’s; especially control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
· Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
· Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
· Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly
· Process payroll
· Ensure that all bank reconciliations are completed
· Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
· Maintain the chart of accounts
· Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
· Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
· Manage outsourced functions
Reporting
· Issue timely and complete financial statements
· Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
· Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
· Construct and monitor financial and operating metrics
· Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
· Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
· Control a system of management cost reports
· Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Compliance
· Coordinate communications with external auditors for the annual audit
· Ensure all local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings are made timely
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration preferred
- 10+ years' progressively responsible experience
- Prior Oil & Gas E and P experience is a must
- Preference will be given to candidates with the CPA or CMA
- Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills; accuracy and timeliness are essential
- Ability to cooperate with all levels of employees, management and external agencies
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Self-motivated and willingness to work in fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- 10 key by touch
- Experience with WolfPac or OGSYS as well as Energylink integration preferred

Pay: $109,052.00 - $117,635.00 per year
