Role Summary
As a Business Development Manager, you will seek out new business opportunities, as well as build and maintain customer relationships. You will also perform strategic planning, market research, and sales as part of this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. All essential duties require the exercise of discretion and independent judgment, and the holder of this title has full discretion in the application and development of applicable operations procedures and materials.
- Represent Pacifica Logistics Group, LLC. in a professional, skilled, and beneficial manner.
- Find new business opportunities, and keep and grow customer relationships.
- Perform strategic planning, market research, and sales.
- Prepares sales materials and delivers customer presentations for entering the market.
- Achieve sales goals using KPIs and other metrics.
- Manage sales pipeline and forecast monthly and quarterly volume and revenue.
- Use personal network and business connections to acquire new customers.
- Develop customer quotes and proposals (all rates need approval) and negotiate contracts to improve margin.
- Visit and talk with four potential customers per week in person.
- Support new customers with their setup.
- Be an escalation point for assigned customers, ensuring excellent customer service, by collaborating with the management and staff to resolve customer issues.
- Engage assigned current customers commercially, for the purpose of growing the business and retaining the customers.
- Travels across assigned territory (USA) to visit regular and prospective customers to solicit accounts.
- Records business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
- Works with VP of Strategy and Business Development to keep account activities and literature updated.
- Participates in trade shows.
- Other tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Marketing from a four-year college or university; a minimum of five years related sales experience in ocean drayage with a logistics, supply chain and/or transportation company, or a combination of education and experience.
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint; Word; Excel, and Outlook.
