Overview:
This position is in a busy, but small, family practice office with a single doctor.
Medical receptionist experience for the front desk is preferred but we are willing to train the right person.
The main criteria: You are smart, a quick learner, curious, pleasant and helpful with patients. You should be very adept at multi-tasking and you should know and practice good phone skills, have good computer skills/typing/spelling/English and be a team player. Requirements include: extremely polite, cheerful, honest, attentive to great customer service, good with people and the phone, willing to take direction.
You will be asked, among other things:
- To take detailed messages, pre-screen patient requests, and help your co-workers keep the office running smoothly and efficiently.
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Schedule appointments and manage the appointment calendar
- Collect patient information, co-pays, and update electronic medical records
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate personnel
- Verify insurance information and make insurance referrals
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers as needed
- Assist with medical record management, including filing, scanning, and retrieval
Knowing how to prioritize your tasks and juggle various demands is key to success in this position
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar administrative role is preferred but we are willing to train the right person
- Basic understanding of medical procedures and terminology is very helpful
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
