The Role: Accountant
BFG is seeking an Accountant to assist in the overall financial wellbeing of the organization and its
subsidiaries. The accountant will prepare and examine financial records for accuracy and ensure
that all expenses are paid on time. They will also assist in developing policies and procedures to ensure the organization's financial operations, and reporting meet the requirements of the Internal Revenue
Service (IRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and other regulatory standards.
Job responsibilities are as follows, but not limited to:
- Work with CFO to Establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation for all companies and nonprofit foundation.
- Develop thorough working knowledge of all company's chart of accounts and coding/classing system.
- Review AP entries prior to check runs, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timeliness of paying vendors.
- Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
- Provides financial analysis of all companies.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- 5 plus years of related experience in the accounting field
- Ability to prepare, review and analyze financial documents
- Thorough knowledge of technical accounting procedures and GAAP
- Highly organized and detail-driven
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in 501c3 compliance a plus
- Willingness to jump in and assist with other financial tasks
- Exceptional Excel skills, QuickBooks
- Experience in a rapid growth environment strongly preferred
- Must be solutions orientated and passionate about problem solving
