ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under direction of the Grounds Manager, Assistant Grounds Manager, Horticulturist, or Groundskeeper:
Assist Horticulturist and Assistant Grounds Manager with Maintenance of Landscapes
Pressure wash buildings, patios, and other structures, and clean gutters as directed using a ladder or mechanical lift.
Shovels snow from walks and driveways. Spreads salt on public passage ways to prevent ice buildup.
Uses and maintains personal protective equipment when using tools and equipment that pose any risk to vision, hearing, fingers, hands, arms, legs, feet, toes, or other body parts.
Physically handles resident moves by relocating furniture and other personal belongings to a new location.
Collects Trash/Recycling from residents’ units.
Works in a team relationship with all staff in the Maintenance Department as well as with staff in other departments.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Requires current Pennsylvania driver's license and a good driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
