We are seeking dedicated and compassionate male preferred direct care staff to join our team in providing exceptional care for an individual with significant behavioral challenges. This role involves working with a client who exhibits physical aggression and requires assistance with daily hygiene, including toileting and bathing.
Responsibilities:
- Behavioral Support: Implement and follow individualized behavior support plans to manage and mitigate physically aggressive behaviors. Provide a calming presence and use de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Hygiene Assistance: Assist the client with all aspects of personal hygiene, including toileting, bathing, grooming, and dressing, ensuring dignity and respect.
- Daily Living Activities: Support the client in performing daily living activities such as meal preparation, feeding, and housekeeping tasks.
- Safety Monitoring: Continuously monitor the client's environment to ensure safety and well-being, preventing self-harm or harm to others.
- Health Management: Assist with medication administration and attend to any medical needs under the guidance of healthcare professionals.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of the client's progress, behaviors, and any incidents that occur.
- Communication: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including healthcare providers, therapists, and family members, to provide comprehensive care.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience working with individuals who exhibit physical aggression and require hygiene assistance is strongly preferred.
- Skills: Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and de-escalation strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, transferring, and providing personal care. Must be able to handle and manage physically aggressive behaviors.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certifications required. Additional relevant certifications are a plus such as CPI or ProAct, DSP 1, DSP 2
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Further education in psychology, social work, or a related field is an advantage.
- Other Requirements: Must be a male staff member. Background check and drug screening required.
