General Job Description:
The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach is seeking a Pool Technician. Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine pool services and maintenance for a Homeowners Association (HOA) Junior Olympic pool and facilities; ensuring that the pool is available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition in accordance with all State laws and Local ordinances. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to pool cleaning to include filters, required chemical applications, routine maintenance of equipment such as repairing light fittings, identifying leaks, cracks, and faulty equipment, ordering of required chemicals, parts and materials.
This is the journey-level classification in the Facilities Maintenance Technician series responsible for performing a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for a Homeowners Association (HOA) facility. Incumbents at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies. Work is reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for a Homeowners Associations facility, including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work. Ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.
- Assembles, repairs, maintains, and moves furniture, such as desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, shelves, and related fittings and fixtures.
- Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment; replaces filters; identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to supervisor.
- Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor.
- Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
- Performs custodial tasks.
- Assists with structural pest control measures.
- Monitors inventory, orders supplies, and maintains purchase records within authorized budget.
- Maintains records and logs of daily activities.
- Assists with special events, as needed.
- Performs related duties, as assigned.

Licenses and Certifications:
- At time of appointment, Florida Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record maintained throughout employment.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification
Physical Demands:
- Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work.
- Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle.
- Vision to read printed materials.
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio.
- Frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards.
- Finger dexterity needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, and to operate tools and equipment.
- Incumbents in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and inspect work sites.
- Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
Environmental Conditions:
Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. Exposure to chemicals, mechanical and electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.
Working Hours:
- Thursday – Sunday – 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Incumbents may be assigned an on-call and irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
