Job Summary:
The Quality Control Supervisor helps to provide oversight and guidance to personnel while focusing on the processes in the production laboratory, compounding, and packaging areas related to receipt of raw materials and components (incoming), and finished goods inspections for cosmetics, personal care, OTC drug, and medical device manufacturing. This includes but is not limited to:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide guidance to incoming and finished goods inspectors
- Assist with raw material, component, and finished goods inspection while adhering to ANSI and other regulatory requirements
- Review rework charters, NCRs, OOS investigations, and other GMP documents as needed
- Conduct internal investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPAs as assigned
- Review and verify QC testing procedures and results including logbook reviews
- Oversee raw material retain program
- Perform job closeout activities, verify lot codes, and perform batch release
- Conduct data entry of batch records, NCRs, and other information as assigned
- Oversee Check Scale Program and assist with equipment calibration and maintenance program (in-house and 3rd party)
- Conduct SOP and Test Method reviews for QC activities related to incoming and finished goods inspections and laboratory test procedures (production/microbiology)
- Perform lab testing of materials (raw materials, in process, and finished goods) as needed
- Participate in Lean initiates, GEMBA walks, and other process improvement activities
- Assist with ordering and inventory maintenance of QC laboratory supplies
- May assist with sample submission to customers and outside testing laboratories
- Conduct training for incoming goods and finished goods inspectors and laboratory personnel
- Other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills:
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- High attention to detail and organization
- Background in Quality Control or related field
- Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment (balances, pH meters, TOC meter, viscometer, FTIR)
- Time management skills
- Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English
- Able to operate a computer (i.e., Microsoft applications, ERP system, lab software)
- Able to perform mathematical calculations and verify accuracy of calculations by others
- Perform essential duties and responsibilities efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision
Education/Experience:
- College degree (A.S. or B.S.) in Biology, Chemistry, or related field and/or 5+ years of relevant experience in quality or laboratory setting.
- Prefer experience within the personal care/cosmetic, OTC drug, or medical device industry
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Regularly/Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend
- Regularly/Frequently use hands to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally/Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and, infrequently, up to 50 pounds
- Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and use of tools and equipment parts
- Must be able to move between facilities on our campus
- Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, depth perception, color determination, and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and via messaging
- Requires composure and ability to prioritize and handle many urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a high level of competence and accuracy
