- PURPOSE OF POSITION:To organize and manage regulatory and compliance programs to ensure Company policies/procedures are followed through:
A) Adherence to HQO’s Food Safety programs.
B) Adherence to HQO’s Organic program.
C) Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's); D) Audits against product specifications
E) Program and facility inspections
- ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Designated as a company SQF Practitioner. Must assist in validating all changes to FSMS.
- Back up for the Quality Manager, in their absence.
- The Back up for the Regulatory and Compliance Coordinator is Quality Manager.
- Oversight of, and making necessary revisions to HACCP, HARPC, FSMA, SQF, OSP, SOPs, SSOPs,risk assessments, and flow charts.
- Ensure compliance with government regulatory agencies and third-party audits.
- Manage SQF, FSMA and other third-party audits, customer audits, government, Kosher andOrganic Certifications.
- Manage Pest Control Program and ensure it meets organic, SQF, and third-party auditrequirements.
- Manage the Supplier Approval Program and Supply Chain Preventive Controls.
- Conduct internal audits and review of all food safety policies and programs including pre-operational sanitation inspections, GMP inspections, pest control inspections, review and make available the daily pre-operational GMP and mid-shift audit findings with corrective actions for the morning business update meeting.
- Provide proper atmosphere for employee attitudes and morale.
- MAJOR OR UNUSUAL PROBLEMS:
- Constant vigilance is required to stay abreast of numerous formulation/specification changes as they occur.
- Decisions are required to protect food safety and usability of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:
- Primary Authority
- Reporting Food Safety issues to Quality Manager
- Direct the isolation and containment of any raw materials, WIP, or finished product processedoutside of food safety requirements
Recommends to Management
- Disposition of raw materials, WIP, and finished product segregation.
- Major corrective action requirements.
General Office as directed by Quality Manager or as needed to ensure smooth operation of department.
Customers for questions regarding internal programs
Production Supervisor for major corrective actions.
Facility Service Providers (Pest Control, Laundry, etc.)
Regulatory inspectors to provide facility escort and HACCP Documentation
Third Party inspectors to provide facility escort and documentation
Internal laboratory to satisfy testing requirements.
Other department supervision to aid in accomplishment of corrective actions consistent with company goals
Education & Experience
- Knowledge: BA or BS in Food Science, Engineering, or Science Degree or equivalent
- Experience: 2-5 years Food or equivalent
- Certified SQF practitioner
- Certified PCQI
- Certified ServeSafe Food Protection Manager
- Certified training FSVP
- Certified internal audit training.
