Job Summary: The Server greets and serves food and/or beverages to members and customers. Provides food and beverage service in accordance with customer service standards while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation according to Club standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Sets up the side station and performs assigned side (prep) work
· Provides immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating
· Distributes food and wine menus and answers related questions
· Take members’ and guests’ orders; suggestively sells food and beverage items if appropriate
· Places orders with the kitchen; informs cooks about any special preparation instructions
· Assembles food on tray; procures items from each station as necessary
· Checks back to ensure member/guest satisfaction; replenishes water, bread, etc. as necessary
· Removes soiled dishes, only after everyone at the table has completed that course
· Presents dessert menus, suggests/serves dessert, coffee, cappuccino, and after dinner drinks
· Verifies accuracy of prices, taxes, service charges and other charges on all checks
· Presents the bill
· Thanks members and guests, invites them to return
· Handles all member, reciprocal, and credit charges as prescribed by standard operating procedures
· Keeps tables, dining room, and bus station areas clean
· Advises supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur
· Performs clean-up and closing duties as assigned by supervisor
· Attends pre-meal meetings as requested by the Clubhouse Manager
· Ensure the efficient and timely submission of all required reports
· Ensure that required income, cost control and inventory procedures are consistently used
· Assist in the set-up and breakdown of special functions and catered events
· Performs other appropriate duties assigned by the Clubhouse Manager
Qualifications:
· Demonstrates quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
· Ability to read and write English language (follow verbal and written instructions)
· Perform simple mathematical calculations
· Knowledge of local and state laws for the service of alcoholic beverages to members and guests and applicable health department laws/requirements
· Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure
· Work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends
· Positive attitude, professional manner, and appearance in all situations
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
· Works primarily indoors in a restaurant/lounge environment, with some outdoor work involving patio, pool, and on-course.
· Stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend, and kneel for up to 8 hours at a time
· Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 30 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. constantly
