Equipment Operator (Entry)
The City of Centerville, a “warm and cheerful” community with a population of approximately 24,000 located southeast of Dayton in Montgomery County has an exciting opportunity for the full-time position of Public Works Entry Level Equipment Operator. This position works under the direction of the Public Works staff. 40 hours per week (crews work 10 hours a day and 4 days a week from 7.00 a.m. – 5.30 p.m.);
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist with waste collection; makes “special pick-up” waste collections; lifts and carries up to sixty (60) pounds at thirty (30) yards.
- Assist in leaf collection and roadside and park clean-up.
- Repairs and patches streets, sidewalks, and curbs rebuilds streets inlets and catch basins.
- Straightens and replaces miscellaneous City signs and installs and paints barricades.
- Perform snow removal and ice control on roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots.
- May also perform related maintenance work as needed under the direction of Public Works staff.
Qualifications:
- Experience in performing general maintenance work and other outdoor physical work;
- Strong organizational, team, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License and be comfortable working in roadways with traffic utilizing proper safety techniques.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
