JOB DESCRIPTION:
FKO is looking for Part-Time (34 hours per week) Summer Food Specialists to manage our Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). An ideal candidate will be committed to FKO’s mission and have a passion for food and nutrition programming.
Duties of the Summer Food Specialist include, but are not limited to:
- Receive food deliveries, properly store food and supplies, and maintain inventory in accordance with safe food handling practices;
- Prepare and serve daily breakfast, lunch and snacks to summer program participants;
- Travel with program on field trips to distribute meals;
- Maintain accurate Summer Food Program records and operate in accordance with USDA, SFSP and DESE standards;
- Provide ongoing training to FKO staff on nutrition standards, safe food practices, etc.;
- Serve as primary contact between FKO Food and Nutrition Manager, external vendors and FKO program location;
- Participate in regular site review to maintain sanitation and safety standards and ensure compliance with SFSP policies;
- Submit accurate and timely documentation to FKO Food and Nutrition Manager on a weekly basis;
- Support program leadership with non food-related administrative tasks during down time; and
- Perform other duties as required.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of High School diploma required;
- Experience in food/nutrition service preferred;
- Valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation;
- Must pass MA EEC Background Record Check
Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing for long periods of time, as well as stooping, squatting and running
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
