It supervises the architectural, engineering, bidding, contracting, building, inspection from the beginning to the end of the project and specializes in concrete self-preform on large commercial scale.
POSITION SUMMARY
Supports field operations by helping to keep Okland-owned equipment in good working order. Performs maintenance or repairs to keep equipment in repair. Duties include welding, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, troubleshooting, inspecting, and installing new equipment. Under limited supervision, performs difficult routine work related to maintenance and repair on construction equipment and tools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and service Okland owned construction equipment and tools per the manufacturer specification.
- Using hand and power tools, perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment.
- Recommend replacement of tools or equipment as needed.
- Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunction.
- Set up new equipment as needed prior to sending it into the field.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine the proper repair method, utilizing blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
- Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work in maintenance logs.
- Work out of town, at times, with little to no notice.
- Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position.
- Must supply personal owned tools, through ¾” drive.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help maintain a clean and organized shop.
- Comply with DOT log and records regulations
- Order parts, ensuring that the best pricing is obtained while cultivating relationships with multiple suppliers.
- Actively participate in monthly safety meetings and work to promote a safe workplace.
- Track work time to ensure proper billing.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- At least 5 years of experience as an equipment mechanic or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Trade school certification highly preferred.
- Preferred experience with multiple different brands and types of construction equipment.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Must maintain a valid US driver license with clean driving record.
- Must maintain a current DOT medical card.
- Forklift certification is required.
- Aerial lift certification is required.
- 10-hour OSHA class completion is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work varied shifts or extended hours, as required.
- Ability to make decisions and problem solve.
- Basic working knowledge of computers and email.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing using English.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and practices commonly used in construction and maintenance.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Understanding of technical, operation, service, or repair manuals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and/or hear. Safety requirements necessitate no language barrier exist between employees and supervisors. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to climb, lift, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. The employee must also lift and/or move at least 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision. The employee is also required to frequently inspect the project and will be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions, including rain, sleet, snow and wind, heat. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. The employee is also required to frequently walk on uneven surfaces.
Hazards: May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold as well as certain unsafe environments; occasionally works near moving equipment and mechanical parts and electrical equipment; possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles; possible exposure to internal liquids. This is a safety sensitive position where a momentary lapse of attention can result in serious injury or death. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally very loud. Must follow all safety requirements carefully.
