We are seeking a Community Prevocational Specialist to join our team! The Community Prevocational Specialist will provide the oversight and support necessary to enable work-related skill training to prepare people for employment or meaningful activities.
Location: Nassau County, NY
Position: Full time
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Hourly Rate: $19.00
Responsibilities:

fosters and engages individuals through a person-centered approach

empowers independence through proactive training and practical experiences

schedules individualized community-based volunteer and job skill experiences

ensures the group’s weekly activities are adhered to, and that individuals exhibit appropriate social behavior during participation in the community

incorporates life, job, and travel skills during group and volunteer activities, while facilitating community integration

facilitates prevocational curriculum/classes to allow for opportunities to develop general, and non-job task specific skills (e.g. time management, following directions, stress management, communicating effectively, the ability to attend to tasks)
Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED; Associate degree preferred in Human services, Psychology, or Sociology

ID/DD experience preferred

must have a valid New York State Driver's License

must have own transportation with proof of insurance and registration
