Full Job Description

The George Gervin Academy (GGA) is looking for an Off-Site Teacher responsible for supporting the Off-Site Facilitator in teaching planning, coordinating, and executing off-site or contracted programs for the George Gervin Academy partnership credit recovery programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for direct, active, and adaptive supervision of students to ensure all safety. Responsible for the management of the classroom environment and curriculum including planning, preparing, and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on each individual student's developmental goals; creating and providing a warm, safe, and caring environment; maintaining an orderly, clean, and appealing classroom which allows the student to grow and explore; plans, prepares, and implements daily activities (indoor/outdoor) as they relate to the curriculum; encourages their involvement in scheduled routines and daily activities; maintains ongoing developmental records for each student in the classroom by tracking & documenting all developing skills based on the Teaching Strategies Gold assessment tool, maintaining “portfolios” of each student’s progress to include, samples of artwork, writing, benchmarks, etc.; inputs annual data from all assessments to track progress of program goals; and is responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of the students at all times. The teacher is responsible for the progress and development of the students in his/her care and will work with and coordinate with the partnership treatment center and George Gervin Academy.

Ability to work with others in a supportive, professional, and cooperative manner.

Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.

MENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and empathize with students, partnership treatment center staff, and families.

Ability to ensure personal accountability, and compute and compile reports.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize under pressure.

Ability to be flexible when there is an unforeseen change or when the need for change presents.

Education/Certification:

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university; valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.

· Previous experience with adjudicated students – preferred

· Background or certification in Special Education – preferred

Demonstrated competency in the core subject area assigned.
Candidates must have a satisfactory outcome of a background check. Drug Test fingerprints.

Salary: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
