Full Job Description

The Director of the Surgical Technology Program is responsible for providing vision and leadership to support and enhance the mission of the Surgical Technology Program. The Surgical Technology Program Director works with the Surgical Tech faculty and clinical coordinators on the Oxford and Desoto campuses, the respective Campus Deans, the Dean of Health Sciences, and other NWCC administration. The appointment is for a 12-month period and requires that the responsibilities of the position be carried out throughout the entire period.

The Director will monitor all campuses of the Surgical Tech program to ensure consistent documentation, policies, procedures, facilities, equipment, and support services throughout the program.

QUALIFICATION

A current CST or CSTFA credential.
A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Surgical Technology.
A minimum total of five (5) years of work experience as a surgical technologist or surgical technologist instructor, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
Experience as an educator (instructor, staff developer, trainer, preceptor, etc.) and proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
Management experience in either an academic post-secondary institution or industry setting, including employee supervision.
Satisfy clinical agency requirements, i.e., background checks, immunizations, CPR, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Planning, implementing, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating all instruction and related program management activities for the Surgical Technology program.
Serving as a full-time faculty member, teaching surgical technology courses in addition to administrative duties.
Ensuring the program meets all National certification standards and requirements set forth by relevant accrediting bodies.
Developing and updating curriculum, course materials, and instructional methods to align with industry standards and best practices.
Overseeing the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of adjunct faculty and clinical instructors.
Managing program resources, including budgets, equipment, and facilities.
Maintaining relationships with clinical affiliates and coordinating student clinical rotations.
Advising and mentoring students in the Surgical Technology program.
Participating in program marketing, student recruitment, and community outreach efforts.
Ensuring compliance with institutional policies, state regulations, and accreditation standards related to the program.
Perform other duties assigned by the Dean of Health Sciences.
