About us

Happy Pup Manor is a home-based boarding and training facility in Barrington, IL that primarily caters to doodles, retrievers, and some smaller breeds. Our specialization allows us to have more fluid play groups and gives us a better understanding of each dog’s specific needs. Since the workplace is our home, you are a member of a small and special family.
We plan to relocate our business to the Grayslake, IL area in the next 3 months, and as such the ideal candidate should have a feasible commute to both Barrington and Grayslake.

Happy Pup Manor is a home-based boarding and training facility in Barrington, IL that primarily caters to doodles, retrievers, and some smaller breeds. Our specialization allows us to have more fluid play groups and gives us a better understanding of each dog’s specific need. We are hoping to expand our training program and we are looking for a trainer to join our team.

Here at HPM we primarily work with puppies and young dogs on basic pet obedience with focus on sit, down, stay, come, loose leash walking, and a place command. We do occasionally work with some resource guarding, and separation anxiety cases. We also have a therapy dog, ESA, and Service Dog program that is primarily run by our Training Director but there is definitely room for the right person to grow to help in these areas as well.

The right candidate needs to be reliable, self-motivating, and able to follow instructions. You would be working with around 8-12 dogs per day and need to be able to accomplish the set goals by the end of the dog’s program. For longer programs, we do take the dogs out to pet friendly stores to work on distractions so, please be comfortable with facing the public in that capacity as well.

We are a board and train program with a go home lesson at the end of the pups stay with us. We personally drive the pups home and work with the families for around an hour-an hour and a half on how to continue their dogs training once they are home. Currently, all of these lessons are done by our Training Director. If interested, there may be openings for you to do these lessons as well once you are integrated into our program.

We are balanced trainers. Our number 1 priority is the safety of the dogs but of course we like to make sure that all HPM guests have a fun time while here! This position will require some kennel work as far as feeding dogs, pottying dogs, and occasionally cleaning up after them when necessary. We are a team that helps each other out as much as possible. We do film videos to send to owners multiple times per week, and you should be comfortable being in them when needed. We are a fast growing company that is very open to new ideas on how to grow and make ourselves even better, so we would love to add someone to our team that is willing to stay more long term!

Experience working with dogs in a professional setting is required.

Experience training dogs is preferred.

Pay is based on experience.

Reports directly to Training Director.

Must be professional and presentable when client facing.

Work is 5 days a week, days off TBD but will be 2 consecutive days.

Hours are 9 am- 6 pm with a 1 hour lunch break.

This is a full time position, we offer competitive pay and benefits such as health insurance including dental and vision and a 401k with match.'
