The four stellar programs available at Holy Family Ministries: 1) Little Learners Academy - Early learning education, 2) Holy Family School - Education for K-8, 3) Adventures in Learning - afterschool and summer camp, and 4) The Peace Exchange -youth leadership and violence prevention program.
JOB OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the administration this position is responsible for implementing the STEM elementary program. This position is also responsible for collaboration with Administration in promoting interdisciplinary STEM courses and activities into the curriculum. This position has some technology functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
STEM Teacher
- Deliver STEM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.
- Design and provide engaging learning opportunities that inspire learners of all styles and types appropriate for the subject and the developmental needs of students. This would include differentiation and modification of classroom instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Uses technology to promote learning, creativity and collaboration.
- Works directly with school administration and staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of STEM initiatives and curriculum.
- Develop a STEM resource library/check out system for k-5 areas that teachers can access in order to augment SCIENCE/ Math learning within the general classroom.
- Create a respectful, challenging, and dynamic learning environment where all students can learn, utilizing effective strategies for classroom management and student accountability.
- Creates and prepares a team of students for STEM related competitions (robotics, etc)
- Organizes, develops and coordinates special STEM events/ activities schoolwide
- Serves as a liaison to prospective or selected STEM vendors, to determine the best resources, options and innovations that will optimize the learning experience for students and staff.
- Utilize formative and summative assessments of student learning. Provide specific, timely, and productive feedback to students and parents to encourage engagement, participation and provide feedback to students and parents using the HFS grading scale.
- Initiates new programs that support the STEM vision.
- Shares STEM events and activities with the Development Department and Program Associate to promote on social media and HFM Website.
IT Coordination: Working in conjunction with our technology partners, you will provide some support to staff members. The following list includes some of the issues you will be called upon to assist with:
- Supporting Windows laptops, Macbooks, Chromebooks, and iPads
- Supporting audio-video equipment, displays, digital signage, and video conferencing
- Assisting teachers and administrators with on-line standardized testing
- Troubleshooting wireless and wired network issues
- Monitor camera systems and pull footage if needed
- Supporting VoIP phones or SIP phones
- Proficiency in inventory management systems
- Ensure assemblies are live streamed and or recorded
- Able to read and comprehend technical documentation
- Enter tickets for assistance from technical support provider (Aqueity)
- In-depth knowledge of Google Workspace/G-Suite
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Current and Valid IL Teacher Certificate
- Bachelors in Mathematics and/ or Science and/ STEM preferred or related field experiences/ trainings
- Evidence of at least two (2) years of exemplary classroom teaching experience (at the elementary level)
- A proven track record in the use of a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction and the ability to build relationships, solve problems and plan collaboratively.
- Evidence of productive experience with facilitating problem- based learning.
- Evidence of planning, organization and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position.
- Deep understanding of student learning theory, brain-based learning and differentiated instruction.
- Strong understanding of NET-S, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Common Core State Standards/Math (CCSS)
- Proven ability to collaborate with teachers
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Able to work indoors and occasionally outdoors. Role requires sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, seeing, hearing, and the ability to lift a minimum of 10lbs.
