YavaLine Regional Transit System is hiring drivers for the Prescott and Prescott Valley
areas. The YavaLine Regional Transit System is Central Yavapai’s first-ever transit service started by the Town of Prescott Valley Public Works Department. The YAV plans, develops, and operates the regional transit system for commuters, seniors, and people with disabilities. The ideal candidate will be a representative of Yavapai County reflecting YavaLine Regional Transit System's values and guiding principles, providing public transit to customers in a safe, timely manner.
Applicant Requirements: Have held a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 12 months and obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card. Please note all applicants are subject to drug testing. DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule 1 drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
Daily tasks as a YavaLine driver include but are not limited to:
- Drive and operate vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with local laws and ordinances, and other standards and guidelines for drivers.
- Safely transport passengers in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the service area.
- Greet and assist citizens and customers in a manner consistent with excellent customer service standards.
- Assisting in the boarding of passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids and properly securing wheelchairs and scooters.
- Perform daily vehicle checks (pre- and post-trip inspections) to ensure equipment safety.
- Observe, document, and report vehicle safety or other safety issues to appropriate individuals.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles, especially the interior.
- Coordinate with dispatch and the Transit manager to determine the safety and serviceability of the vehicle.
- Coordinate with Transit Dispatch for trip related questions/concerns.
- Comply with FTA Substance Abuse Policy and other personnel practices.
- Maintain required certifications and licenses and immediately notify management of any incident that could influence license status and ability to meet license requirements.
- Collect fares
- Refuel vehicle each day.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Works well with technology
- Has working knowledge of the practices and procedures of the Transportation Department
- Knowledge of the traffic patterns in the Prescott/Prescott Valley area
- Knowledge of vehicular preventive maintenance
- Skill in defensive driving techniques
- Skill in developing and maintaining effective interpersonal relations
- Skill in performing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Skill in maintaining composure during crisis situations
Job Type: Full Time
Stating wage: $15.00 per hour
